“I felt completely hopeless about my love life and was struggling to figure out how I could include God into this area of my life.  I was desperate to overcome the pain of my past broken relationships. Before the sessions I would have this nagging feeling of despair about my problems. During the sessions, I would worry that I would be judged, but Rona was very compassionate, honest, and tender. She also educated me on Bible verses that I could refer to and apply to my feelings, helping me to find the root of my problems. After each session, I become more and more encouraged to use the tools that I’ve learned to manage my fears and handle my problems differently. I was scared to do the work on my own once counseling was over, but I also felt prepared to move forward with my life because of her approaches.

Rona was very genuine, kind, and honest. She listened to me intently, took notes, and provided thorough feedback during our sessions. She made me feel seen and heard. Even though I’m from a different cultural background, she was very engaged in learning about my background and there wasn’t a disconnect between us, which is something that I had experienced with other non-biblical counselors in the past. I felt like I improved mentally. I was able to move forward with my daily life after counseling ended and post-breakup. Even though I was still hurting over my ex, I was able to move forward with finding a new job and completing a course that led me to a new career. I still felt pain in my heart, but that just took time and prayer to heal. I do feel like those sessions gave me renewed confidence in myself and helped me to find my self-worth in Christ more than anything.

I have recommended Rona to several people in my circle that inquired me about my experience with counseling. I think Rona is a great counselor because she seeks to relate to her counselees, which is super important in a counselor. People come from all walks of life, so it’s nice to have someone that wants to meet you halfway. I also like that Rona gave me assignments after each session to reflect on my own and dive deeper into my healing. Doing the assignments taught me that counseling is an everyday practice, not just when you’re with your counselor. It taught me how to be further introspective and vulnerable with myself and God. Another reason I found her assignments helpful is that after my sessions ended, I was able to refer back to the progress that I made and the work that I did, if I ever relapsed into former ways of thinking.”
